Tenho bastante material sobre fotografia com as opiniões da Susan Sontag. E, eu gosto dela. Então, minha orientadora, Simonetta, pediu que eu lesse Susie Linfield. Mais especificamente o livro The Cruel Radiance. Ela já tinha me avisado que Linfield “tem uma opinião diferente de Sontag”, mas isso me rachou:
“This is not because Sontag was wrong about most things; on the contrary, many of heir insights remain sharp and true. But it is Sontag, more than anyone else, who was responsible for establishing a tone of suspicion and distrut in photography criticism, and for teaching us that to be smart about photographs means to disparage them. I am writing, even more, against the work of Sontag’s postmodern and poststructuralists heirs and their sour, arrogant disdain for the traditions, the pratice, and the ideals of documentary photography.” (2010)
Em outras palavras: vou ter muita coisa para pensar.
